Procedure

A shade guide will be consulted so that your dentist can choose the best composite resin color to match your teeth and create the best restoration. The tooth being bonded will be cleaned, then roughened slightly. A conditioning liquid will then be applied to help the bonding material adhere better to the tooth. The resin, which is tooth-colored and putty-like, will then be applied onto the tooth and molded and smoothed to the desired shape. It will be hardened with a special light or laser, then trimmed down further to reach the proper shape. Finally, it will be polished to match the sheen of the surrounding teeth.
